Pastor Glen's February Message

February is the month of candy-filled hearts and love letters. There are varying opinions as to the origin of Valentine's Day. Some experts state that it originated from St. Valentine, a Roman who was martyred for refusing to give up Christianity. He died on February 14, 269 A.D., the same day that had been devoted to love lotteries. Legend also says that St. Valentine left a farewell note for the jailer's daughter, who had become his friend, and signed it "From Your Valentine". Other aspects of the story say that Saint Valentine served as a priest at the temple during the reign of Emperor Claudius. Claudius then had Valentine jailed for defying him. In 496 A.D. Pope Gelasius set aside February 14 to honour St. Valentine.

Valentine’s Day is a time to show our love for one another. Jesus started this concept back in his time when he proclaimed, “They will know you are my disciples by your love for one another”. When we buy roses, heart-filled boxes of chocolates and a card that expresses our deepest feelings for someone special, let’s not forget Him who loved us above all loves. Jesus Christ has provided the life-long Valentine’s Day Gift of eternal life by dying for our sins and filling us with His precious Spirit.

The congregation of The Life Focus Center wishes every a wonderful Valentine’s Day and hopes the month of February leads you to opportunities to experience the genuine love of Jesus. If we can help you connect with one of these opportunities to know Jesus Christ, please come by and visit us one Sunday this month. You will enjoy a Spirit-filled service that may just change the way you view the Love of God.
